The Peugeot 206 is a French passenger car in the B car segment, produced from 1988 to 2012. More than 2,677,000 car models have been developed at the plant in Mulhouse and about 10 million worldwide. Production was discontinued in stages. For some time it has been carried out in China, South America and Iran. Interestingly, as early as the early 1990s, the company began thinking about introducing a successor to the Peugeot 205. The company decided to stop and wait for the situation to develop in order to avoid a bad investment. The ideas were put “in a drawer” and the designers closely followed the development of the car market. The fate of two previous models was also followed: 106 and 306.
The 306 competed with popular vehicles such as the Volkswagen Golf and Opel Astra. The Peugeot 106, for its part, was unable to meet the needs of the B-segment. Fiat Punto, meanwhile, joined the competition. 205 was less modern than its competitors. The Model 206 project was launched in 1994 and completed in 1998. It had to be separated from its predecessors. Turkish designer Murat Gunak created the car with soft and smooth lines. The front end was made more attractive by the large, sloping headlights, which became the hallmark of the brand. There are several interesting solutions in the car – there is hidden storage in the passenger compartment under the passenger seat, and the volume of the luggage compartment has been increased. The windshield is much sloping than the 205 model. Three- and five-door versions were developed.
